Administrative and biographical history: John Edwards Griffith (1843-1933), from Bangor, Caernarfonshire, was an antiquary and botanist, and also the author of The pedigrees of Caernarfonshire and Anglesey families, first published in 1914.
Scope and content: Manuscripts of John Edwards Griffith, [1723]-1929, and collected by him, including a volume labelled 'Pedigrees by John Ellis, Tai Croesion. MS.1723' consisting of an earlier volume of pedigrees by John Ellis of Taicroesion, Llechylched, Angelsey, about 1723, mainly of Anglesey and Caernarfonshire families and additional pedigrees in the hand of J. E. Griffith; four volumes of miscellaneous material in the hand of William Williams, Llandygái, including a volume of notes on Anglesey; about 250 letters, c. 1892-1929, to J. E. Griffith relating to botany and genealogy, including official identification forms from the Director, Royal Gardens, Kew, 1896-1929.
