CONTEXT
Administrative and biographical history: John Pughe (d 1737) of Bodilan, Llanfihangel-y-pennant, Merionethshire, was the son of William Pughe. He married firstly Anne Wynne (d 1729) in 1719, and secondly Anne Thomas in 1731. Following his death in 1737, his wife continued to live at Bodilan until c. 1789. Richard Pughe (fl. 1790-1832) was rector of Llanfrothen, Merionethshire. His daughter was married to Evan Jones (fl. 1838-1857) of Ynysfor, Llanfrothen. By 1860, John Jones lived at Ynysfor.

Scope and content: Papers, 1620-1875, mainly relating to the Pughe family of Bodilan and Llanfrothen and the Jones family of Ynysfor, including bonds, 1620-1733; notes of agreement, 1669-1730; ledger and day book of John Pughe, 1716-1732; letters, 1737-1875; wills, 1763-1806; receipts, 1753-[c. 1862]; bills, 1814-1860; and terriers, 1817-1837.
