Administrative and biographical history: In 1761 Thomas Mesham the younger of Ewloe in the parish of Hawarden, Flintshire, married Ellen Bennett, the eldest daughter of Arthur Bennett of Glan-y-wern, Denbighshire. A Robert Mesham (d. pre-1872) was succeeded by his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Mesham (alive 1872), her brother the Rev. Arthur Bennett Mesham (alive 1845-1856), rector of Wootton, Kent, and rural dean, being dead. Arthur's son Captain Mesham was the male representative of the family in 1872. By 1872 the family had moved from Ewloe Hall to the recently erected mansion of Pontruffydd in the parish of Bodfari, Denbighshire.
Scope and content: Title deeds and papers, 1734-1893, of the Mesham family of Ewloe Hall in the parish of Hawarden, Flintshire, and the associated family of Bennet of Glan y Wern in the parish of Llandyrnog, Denbighshire.
