CONTEXT

Administrative and biographical history: The Calvinistic Methodists were a product of the religious revival of the eighteenth century. Although the movement began as a protest movement within the Church of England, they officially split from the established church in 1811. From 1933 Welsh Calvinistic Methodists became the Presbyterian Church of Wales. Bethany English Presbyterian Church, Ton Pentre was established c1900. St David's Presbyterian Church, Pontypridd was built in 1883.
