CYD-DESTUN

Hanes bywgraffyddol/gweinyddol: The Fellowship of Reconciliation (F.O.R.) was formed originally in Cambridge towards the end of 1914. There was at least one Welshman amongst those who came together to form the movement, namely the Rev. Richard Roberts who, together with George M. Ll. Davies, went on to form Cymdeithas y Cymod yng Nghymru. Between 1914 and 1918 Cymdeithas y Cymod developed its first members from those Christians who were opposed to the War. The Society developed as a branch of the Fellowship of Reconciliation in the United Kingdom, playing an important role in the formation of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (I.F.O.R) in the Netherlands in 1919. For sixty years, Cymdeithas y Cymod worked within the British F.O.R., whilst developing its own national character. However, in 1974 the Society became autonomous and formed its own executive committee and general secretary. It is also responsible for its own fundraising and witness.
