The Archives are situated in the offices of Cyngor Sir Ceredigion (the former Queen's Hotel), towards the northern end of the sea-front in Aberystwyth, about five minutes walk from the pier. By car from the south and north, take the A487 into Aberystwyth and follow signs for the sea front. From the east take the A44 into Aberystwyth and follow signs for the sea-front.
Pedestrians should make their way to the promenade, and turn right toward the northern end of the sea-front.
Parking
There is no parking on site. There is free on-street parking in town and on the sea-front, but please remember Aberystwyth can be very busy in the holiday season. There are also several pay-and-display car parks in the town.
By Bus/Train
The archives are about ten minutes walk from the railway and bus stations.
Ceredigion Archives is the record office for the county formerly known as Cardiganshire or (in Welsh) Sir Aberteifi.
Monday 10am - 7pm
Tuesday - Wednesday 10am - 4.30pm
Thursday - Friday 10am- 4pm
The archives are accessible to wheelchair users. Disabled toilets are on the same floor. There is a lift into the building (situated at the rear of the building) for those with limited mobility.
Food: There is no café on site but Terrace Road is a short walk away where there is a selection of eating places.
Toilets: Toilets ( M, F & D) approximately 16 metres from search-room, no steps.
Shop: There is no shop but pencils may be borrowed and paper for note-taking is always available.
There is no need to book an appointment but if coming from far away it is advisable to phone to ensure that the archive is open.

Photocopying and photography is at the discretion of the Archivist. Digital cameras may be used in the search-room. Staff can make digital copies using cameras and scanning techniques. Researchers will be expected to complete a copyright declaration.
Use of laptops is allowed; they may be plugged in whenever possible.
A research service is available at £15 per hour. Advice and assistance is given free in the search-room.
The search-room is a quiet and studious environment into which children and young people are very welcome.
