The National Monuments Record of Wales (NMRW) Search Room and Library is situated in the Aberystwyth offices of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, at the end of Stanley Road, near Plas Crug Avenue. It is close to the railway station and within walking distance of the National Library of Wales and Aberystwyth University.

There is a free car park adjacent to the building.
By Bus/Train
The railway and bus stations are a 5-10 minute walk away and there is also a taxi rank adjacent to the railway station.
NMRW holds photographs (including oblique and vertical aerial photography), surveys, maps, reports, drawings and databases relating to all aspects of the archaeology, architecture and history of Wales. Increasing numbers of these are digital photographs and records which can be accessed free of charge from www.coflein.gov.uk - the online NMRW database. The large collections include records and photographs from other public bodies such as Cadw and the Ordnance Survey, private organisations and individuals, in addition to those created by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales during the course of its survey work.

There are designated parking spaces for disabled visitors to the NMRW. The Search Room and Library is on the upper ground floor of the building and wheelchair access to the building is by lift from the car park. There are disabled toilets. Magnifying glasses and full-page magnifiers are available to borrow from the enquiry desk. Computer software is available for users with visual impairments.
Food: There are no catering facilities in the building. There are numerous cafes in the town, 10 minutes walk away.
Toilets: Toilet facilities are available.
Shop: Royal Commission publications are available for sale in the Library.
It is advisable (although not obligatory) to make an appointment before visiting so that full assistance can be provided and the best use made of the service.
There is no reader ticket scheme. Researchers are required to complete a visitor declaration form and produce identification that includes address.
Lockers are provided for coats and bags (bags are not allowed in the Search Room). No coins are required.
Staff can provide photocopies, within copyright guidelines and providing this does not damage the document. High-quality digital images can be provided on disc by the NMRW's scanning service. Fees apply. Cameras to photograph documents are not allowed in the Search Room.
Personal laptops are allowed, there are a number of tables which have power sockets.

There is no lower age limit for use of the NMRW, however young children should be accompanied by an adult.
