Records Held

The Roderic Bowen Library and Archives holds the institutional records of the University of Wales Lampeter which was founded in 1822 and is the oldest higher education institution in Wales. These records include student registers and an extensive photographic collection. The archive also holds deposited papers of individual scholars associated with the university. There is a small collection of medieval and post-medieval manuscripts, chiefly of a religious character, presented by such benefactors as Thomas Burgess (1756-1837), Bishop of St Davids and founder of the university, and the educational philanthropist Thomas Phillips (1760-1851).

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David also holds archives associated with the Religious Experience Research Centre of the Alister Hardy Trust, available by arrangement with the Alister Hardy Society (www.alisterhardyreligiousexperience.co.uk/).
