From the Heads of the Valleys Road (A472) follow signs to The Works (A4046 and B4486).

Free car parking is available at the site.
By Bus/Train
Regular train services run from Cardiff to Ebbw Vale Parkway. For information see http://www.arrivatrainwales.co.uk/ and www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/ebv/localarea.html. The distance from Ebbw Vale Parkway station to Gwent Archives is about 1 1/2 miles.

Gwent Archives holds records relating to the geographic area of the former historic county of Monmouth and the former county of Gwent, including local government archives; public and official archives (courts of law, hospitals etc); private archives including those of families, estates, industry and trade; and archives of ecclesiastical parishes in the diocese of Monmouth.

All public areas of Gwent Archives are accessible to wheelchair users and a disabled toilet is available. There is also a designated area for disabled visitors' parking.
Food: A separate room is available for visitors to consume their own food and drink.
Toilets: Public toilets are available on site.
Shop: There is no shop at Gwent Archives but publications may be bought at the office.
An appointment is not always necessary but reservation of seats is advisable, especially for use of microfilm/fiche readers.
Visitors are required to complete a Reader Registration and Declaration form on their first visit to Gwent Archives and provide proof of identity (which should contain an address and signature). A valid CARN (County Archive Research Network) Reader's Ticket will be accepted as proof of identity.
Lockers are provided outside the searchroom. There is no charge.
Gwent Archives offers a photocopying service, subject to the documents' physical condition and regulations regarding copyright. Photocopies, and prints from microfilm/fiche can be supplied.
Use of cameras is permitted; there is a charge of £2.00 for a daily permit and £20.00 for an annual permit.
A photographic service by Archive staff is also available.
Personal laptops are allowed, and a wireless network is available.
A research service is offered for those who are unable to visit Gwent Archives. The charge is £25 per hour; please contact us first to obtain an estimate and application form.
There are no age restrictions, but children should be accompanied by a responsible adult, and visitors with very young children should make sure that other users of the Archives are not disturbed.
