Flintshire Record Office receives Excellence Award

At the Flintshire County Council Excellence Awards event held in March 2010 at Theatre Clwyd, the Chief Executive and Strategic Directors paid tribute to a range of teams representing the varied services provided by the Council. The Excellence Awards were set up in 2009 to:

    ·       recognise outstanding achievement and contribution to service
    improvements

    ·       acknowledge and reward those who 'go the extra mile', exceeding customer expectations

    ·       provide practical examples of 'Best Practice' that could prove inspirational to others in the provision of their service

The Record Office was awarded the Customer Services and Community Engagement Award for improving accessibility, listening to customer feedback and responding to their needs. They were commended for the success of their new improved searchroom, which has enabled more customers to visit the Record Office with enhanced facilities. They were also praised for their efforts to increase accessibility and communications via the website, and through their bi-annual Newsletter, The Hourglass. Staff members Steven Davies, Senior Archivist, Liz Newman, Archivist, and Sue Copp, Archives Assistant attended the event, accompanied by Lawrence Rawsthorne, Assistant Director (Libraries, Culture and Heritage). They were delighted to receive the award on behalf of their colleagues.
