Wales Powering the World Category: General The Powering the World: Looking at Welsh Industry through Archives (PTW) project has been successfully completed. 10 collections, representing coal mining, slate quarrying, copper smelting, engineering, shipping and brewing, have been catalogued and are now available to the public. North Wales: Inigo Jones Ltd., Slate Merchants of Nantlle, Gwynedd Archives Davies Bros., Slate Merchants, Porthmadog, Gwynedd Archives Coppack Bros. & Co., Connah’s Quay, Flintshire Record Office Wrexham Lager Company Papers, Wrexham Archives and Local Studies Archives and Records Council of Wales (ARCW) has been awarded funding by CyMAL for a follow on project ‘Profiting from Powering the World’. The new project will promote the collections, which have been catalogued, highlighting the importance of business archives and encouraging their use for research. Planned activities include a travelling exhibition, leaflet, web pages, and a one-day workshop. Highlights from the catalogued collections will be digitised and contributed to the People’s Collection Wales. The records of the South Wales Miners’ Museum collection will be catalogued in a linked bid from West Glamorgan Archive Service.
